This is a major step forward for urban mobility, as it will make it easier for people to get around cities without having to rely on cars.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cycling is a perfect solution for both climate change and environmental objectives, and this new policy will help promote its use. E-bikes are becoming increasingly popular, and with good reason. They are a more sustainable way to get around cities, and they also help reduce traffic congestion.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this article, we will take a look at the new financial policy, how it will help promote cycling and e-bike usage in Italy, and how the wider European Union is facilitating this kind of project to promote sustainable urban mobility.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e67ce3d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"e67ce3d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">What funds have been made available?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1bce77a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1bce77a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mef.gov.it\/en\/focus\/The-National-Recovery-and-Resilience-Plan-NRRP\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The National Recovery and Resilience Plan<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (PNRR) is the Italian section of the Recovery and Resilience Facility, which is part of the European Union&#8217;s overall response to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PNRR has set aside \u20ac30 billion for sustainable mobility projects, with a particular focus on e-mobility, public transport, and active travel such as walking and cycling.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From that fund,<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cortensafe.it\/2022\/03\/22\/dal-pnrr-600-milioni-per-realizzare-piste-ciclabili-urbane-e-turistiche\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u20ac200 million<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been dedicated to the construction of urban cycle paths and \u20ac400 million to the construction of tourist cycle paths. The aim is to create a network of cycle paths totaling at least 565 km, which would be more than double the current length.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2fb0650 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2fb0650\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">How will the funds be used?<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7dfd90d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7dfd90d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The funds will be used to <strong>construct new cycle paths and improve existing ones<\/strong>.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The construction of new cycle lanes will take into account the needs of all users, including people with disabilities.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the primary aims of the program is to <strong>connect universities with nearby train stations<\/strong> and to <strong>promote the use of bikes<\/strong> as a means of commuting. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The construction of new cycle paths is not the only objective of the program. In fact, a large part of the funds will be dedicated to the improvement of existing infrastructure. The study also found that, on average, each person who bikes regularly saves society around 600 euros per year.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With these benefits in mind, it is clear that investing in cycling infrastructure is a smart move for any city or country looking to create a sustainable and prosperous socio-economic effect.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just think about the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rfi.it\/content\/rfi\/it\/news-e-media\/comunicati-stampa-e-news\/2022\/2\/11\/565-chilometri-di-nuove-piste-ciclabili-per-collegare-stazioni-e.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">150 million from the EU Next Generation for the construction of cycle paths in urban and metropolitan areas<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to connect train stations to universities.
