2hire’s roots started to branch out in 2015 when we launched a moped sharing service for the students of LUISS University in Rome. From being an operator in the sharing sector, those roots started to grow and expand towards the whole reality of digital mobility solutions.
The turning point was in December 2016, when we realized that connecting vehicles was the way to go. 2hire made its very first step by joining LVenture Group 5-month acceleration program, claiming that vehicles were not smart enough for the digitalization that was about to start in the mobility sector. At that time, we had a hardware prototype to remotely unlock and lock the doors of a FIAT 500L and a lot to believe in.
Time went by and after plenty of work, countless obstacles, and huge technological improvements, 2hire’s evolution started, entering the international scenario of digital mobility. At the end of 2019, we reached thousands of vehicles connected in Italy, Spain, France, and South America.
2hire develops a technology to connect all kinds of vehicles and make them controllable by app. We enable digital mobility solutions around all vehicles, from cars to scooters, mopeds, and bikes, helping companies launch, run, and scale new digital services.
With more than 15,000 vehicles connected in 15 countries and more than 60 cities around the world, we strive to make mobility solutions accessible worldwide. We firmly believe that mobility is what brings people together, it deserves the best work we can do.
Our focus has always been on vehicles, and on making it possible to communicate with them. When vehicles enter the digital world, they come closer to people and to modern mobility needs. To meet these needs, we built Adapter, the universal software layer to communicate with all vehicles. Adapter standardizes the different protocols that different vehicle types, makes, and models use to communicate with the outside world, providing a single access point to retrieve vehicle data and trigger remote interactions. Adapter enables anyone to build apps and services that are instantly compatible with thousands of vehicles.
We are the first users of our technology, as we built two vertical platforms for vehicle sharing and digital rental on top of Adapter. But this is just the beginning: 2hire technology unlocks infinite opportunities and use cases that are coming to life everyday, and that will play a key role in the future of connected mobility.
